It takes a dedicated amount of time and energy to build good, strong, lasting business relationships today. They are such an integral and necessary part of success, but people don’t seem to want to put in the work.
This week’s episode is all about strategies Isaac Garcia-Sitton used to build quality and long-lasting personal & professional relationships with others. I discussed extensively with Isaac what has helped him to foster relationships and how you can do the same.
Isaac Garcia-Sitton is a respected leader in the Higher Education sector and a seasoned MBA with over 17 years of experience in international relations and business development. Born in Barcelona, raised in Panama, and trained and educated in the United States, Isaac served as a diplomat for Panama, working at the Consulates in New Orleans in 2005 and in Montreal in 2007.
Isaac has been recently appointed as the Inaugural Executive Director, International Student Enrolment, Education & Inclusion at Ryerson University. Reporting to the Vice-Provost, Students, Isaac will lead the policy, planning, infrastructure and operations that will drive increased international enrolment and retention of students and help position Ryerson as a premier urban international university. In this role, Isaac will play a lead role in the institutional efforts to create and support a learning ecosystem that understands and advocates for international student needs and trends, and that ensures the delivery of integrated and effective services and programming for students to become responsible and engaged global citizens.
From 2015-2020, Garcia-Sitton served as the Director of International Education & English Language Institute at York University’s School of Continuing Studies. Under his leadership, the Institute became the largest university provider of Academic English programming in Canada. The Institute rose in reputation both in Canada and globally (securing 100+ partnerships internationally) as a provider of English language programming to students interested in continuing their education or those with international work experience who wish to gain a foothold in the Canadian labor market. These efforts further positioned Toronto and Canada as one of the best study-abroad destinations in the world.
He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Education: Language, Culture & Teaching at York University. His research interest is internationalization and global engagement strategies focusing on the province of Ontario and its higher educational institutions.
