26 | How to switch your career path

There may come a time in your working life when you decide to change careers. Career changes happen for several reasons, but when they do, there are advantages to being strategic about it. For example, a strategic career change will likely lead to greater job satisfaction. In today’s episode, you’ll learn about why Janey changed her career path.

This week’s episode is all about how newcomers, immigrants, and international students can plan their next career move. I discussed extensively with Janey Buzugbe how she strategically made a career switch to an industry she is passionate about.

Janey moved to Canada in 2015 to study Advertising at Humber college. She also earned a Master of Management Innovation and Entrepreneurship from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University.

The cultural shock she experienced when she arrived in Canada led to the creation of her Startup, JaneyofCanada, a company that serves over 10,000 newcomer Students, Professionals, and Entrepreneurs on navigating life in Canada.

Having spent most of her life as a student, Janey is an advocate for personal and professional development for young professionals in tech and women in leadership; helping people shine their light unapologetically through her business and in her current role as Strategic Account Director at BPTN.

I invited Janey here to discuss practical tips that immigrants, newcomers, and international students can use to strategically switch their careers. This is one episode you should not miss and share with everyone you love.
