There are a huge number of factors that can contribute to successful and efficient career progression and, like most things in life, there are some aspects that we have no control over and that are hard to predict. That said, there are several really vital things that we can do, which can lead to better career progression, promotions in our work, and successful career ladder climbing
Today’s episode is all about progressing in your career. We discussed extensively how newcomers, immigrants, and international students can advance in their careers and create job security for life.
Aziz is a dynamic finance and management consulting professional with over 12 years of experience driving change and delivering improvements to business performance. He has a knack for challenging the status quo and taking productivity to the next level. A confident leader and mentor, Aziz is known for having an exceptional focus on finding gaps and developing and implementing action steps to achieve desired results. His professional and community work earned him a 2019 CPA Ontario Emerging Leaders Award.
Aziz worked as a management consultant with a Big 4 consulting firm, where he led performance improvement and digital finance transformation engagements for clients across various industries including financial services, mining, retail, and technology.
A diversity and inclusion advocate, Aziz is active in the community and a former president and member of the Canadian Association of Urban Financial Professionals (CAUFP) from 2017-2018 and now chairs the organization’s Corporate Advisory Board.
He is also the host of the podcast Made to Lead.
Aziz is currently a Director, Cost Transformation, Finance at RBC Capital Markets where he leads a team focused on delivering greater transparency on expenses to business leaders in the Capital Markets business.
Aziz holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance from the Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa and an MBA from the Smith School of Business at Queen’s University. He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CMA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE).
